Plasterboard (also called drywall, wallboard, and gypsum board) is a building material consisting of gypsum formed into a flat sheet and sandwiched between two stiff lining papers. It comes in several types and sizes and is the most common material globally for the construction of interior walls and ceilings, which is ideal for timber framed buildings, loft conversions, stud-partitions and ceilings.
It is typically found in 1.2m (4 feet) wide sheets of various lengths, commonly 2.4m (8 feet), 3m (10 feet), or 3.6m (12 feet). The board thickness ranges from 8mm to 25mm. It is gray surfaced for plastering, or ivory faced, which can be painted or decorated directly.
